Cyber Cell
Cyber Crime and Technical Investigation Cell (referred to as Cyber Cell in short) is located at DCP Office, Panchkula. The Cell is headed by an officer & works under the supervision of Dy. Commissioner of Police.
The Cyber Cell enquires into all Cyber Crime related complaints and submits its reports to senior Police officers for appropriate action. The Cell receives complaints related to datatheft, misuse of data, defamatory/abusive e-mail, e-mail hacking, online lottery fraud, misuse of credit cards, net banking fraud/fraudulent transfer of money, phising, e-ticket frauds, on-line recruitment frauds, threatening e-mails, threatening sms/calls from mobile etc.
The Cyber Cell provides active support to all Investigating Officers ( IOs) in mobile phone related investigation.
31 dec in year 2022 Cyber Cell of Panchkula Police received 320 complaints related to cyber crime and 12 cases were registered under IT Act,2000.
Any person/firm/company can file/submit cyber crime related complaint directly to any PS, SHO, ACP, DCP or CP in their respective office. The complaint can also be sent online. The complainant should invariably write his contact number in his complaint.
